What You’ll Learn in Pottery Class:

Beginners will start by learning how to prepare clay and will be given a short lecture on the various stages of pottery and ceramic making, firing and glazing.

You will first learn hand-building and then the basics of learning to make a pot on the potter’s wheel, or improving your current skills, also learning to throw larger, better pots, also learning all aspects of glazing etc.

The students are introduced to various methods and techniques of pottery and ceramics; they can work at their own pace and choose the technique which they prefer to concentrate on. They will be encouraged to finish, paint and glaze their own pieces. The element of design will also be discussed with the more advanced students.

Please note:  All levels of students are welcome to participate in the above course as it can be adapted for the needs of beginners, intermediate to advanced. Anyone can join any class at any time, so long as booking is made in advance.

Childrens Classes

Children love playing with clay and letting their creativity find form. There are many items that they can easily learn to make, from small sculptures, trinkets & jewellery to plaques, pots & bowls, decorated with patterns, imprints & coloured glazes.

Who should attend?
All children above age 5 can attend.
We offer a fun, friendly and safe environment that enables children to develop skills and release their creative potential, in a fully equipped professional studio.

Course outline
Children will start by learning about how to use clay to create various pieces. They will also be given a short introduction about various stages of creating pottery and ceramics.
They will be introduced to various techniques of pottery and well as designing their pieces. They will be able to work at their own pace while being encouraged and supported. After the pots are fired by us they will be taught to colour their pieces in their favourite colours.

Saturday to Thursday     16.30 – 17.30

Who should attend?
From beginners to experienced potters, every student is taught individually according to their ability, so we have a programme that is right for you. Conducted in our fully equipped and welcoming studio you’ll join like-minded people, and learn about designing and creating with clay and glazes.

Course outline:

Beginners: You will start by learning how to prepare clay and will be given a short lecture on the various stages of pottery and ceramic making, firing and glazing, before getting your hands on the clay and making your first pot.
You will be introduced to various methods and techniques of pottery and ceramics; working at your own pace you will be encouraged and supported. You will then choose your favourite technique to concentrate on and develop. You will be encouraged to finish, paint and glaze your own pieces.
As you progress you will learn to make a pot on the potter’s wheel as well as developing your hand-building techniques.   You’ll also learn to throw larger pots and all aspects of glazing.

Intermediate to Advanced Students: For the more experienced potter we will meet with you to assess your ability and requirements, together we will develop a personalised programme to enable you to achieve your creative desires, including the more advanced elements of design.

Material Fees for Adults:
Single session includes half Kg of clay.
